Many of our users have said, "I'd rather pay you than the phone company." All KeelyNet files are freely available THROUGH THE PHONE with no limitations beyond those imposed by time and quantity per day. We practice what we preach in that information should be FREELY AVAILABLE to all who want it, EXCEPT when relayed to us as proprietary or NOT to be publicly distributed. Since we NEVER INTENDED KeelyNet to be a revenue producing effort, we have decided to follow most other boards and charge $5 per disk, with a minimum of 3 disks. The disk files will ONLY be distributed by AREA and NOT by individual files. This is because of the hassles involved in selecting each file from a request list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ron and I both work full time (with overtime) jobs and have many other interests which WILL NOT BE DIVERTED to casual duplication of readily available info. The idea is to get a complete set of files, then periodically drop in to update the set. It is totally up to you.... We do this only to save OUR USERS on their phone bills. Both Ron and I have had phone bills upwards of $300 for a single month and can easily empathize with everyone else. KeelyNet ASCII files as of 10/07/91 span 6 - 1.2 MB floppies. This would be $30 for all 6 disks including postage. As our files continue to expand, so will the disks required. We have also been receiving letters and postcards from people interested in printouts of various files. In an attempt to provide this information to people who do not have computers, we will be offering any file at 10 cents per page, shipping will be additional.
